In addition, the Savannah property lies around the corner from convention centers and walk from Pulaski Square. By the second evening, he was singing the praises of the property and thanking me for insisting on the Eliza Thompson house.Located 5 minutes' stroll from Sorrel Weed House, the Savannah hotel lies in close proximity to shopping venues such as Madison Square. When we arrived, my husband was quite the grouch because they do not accept pets and it wasn't one of his chain hotels where he can use his business points. Finally, it rained every day we were there, and the hotel had umbrellas for us. We didn't make it to either of those, but there's a great supply of cold water in the lobby, too. They also have hors-d'oeuvres and wine at Happy Hour along with port and dessert in the later evening. Each is unique and original, and all were built in the mid to late 1800s. The Eliza Thompson House is part of the Historic Inns of Savannah, which is a collection of boutique hotels and B&Bs in the Historic District of the city. Perhaps I would prefer to return in the spring or fall. The breakfast, which is included, is incredible different every day. The staff provides excellent service and the basic amenities are all available, including a comfortable queen size bed. Savannah is a very cute city, but very hot + humid in the summer. The staff is fantastic, very good at recommending restaurants. The bed was very comfortable, the AC got plenty cool (important for July in Savannah), and the bathroom was small but clean and plenty new. Our room (king over looking the courtyard) was small but good. If you want the touristy activities, they are within walking distance but far enough away that you can avoid then altogether. The Telfair and Jepson are within walking distance as well as quite a few of the historic homes. VERY close to excellent restaurants, cocktail lounges, and local shops.
